The 69th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great pomp at DCT’S Vasantrao Dempo H.S.S. of Arts, Science and Commerce, Cujira, Goa. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri. Antonio Fernandes, M.L.A. of the Santa Cruz constituency who unfurled the national flag. The Guest of Honour was Dr. Steffi Rodrigues, Gynecologist and Obstetrician.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest urged the students to be disciplined in life so that they can be successful. He referred to parents and teachers as ones who always wish them well, he also stressed on being grateful and respectful towards their parents, teachers as their contribution is priceless.
The Guest of Honour briefed the students on life skills and tips to be healthy. She stressed on the need to eat nutritional food especially when students are preparing for their exams. She called upon the students to be self aware and accept oneself with strength, weaknesses and respect for self and others especially, the members of the opposite gender was of primary importance.
Principal, Mrs. Rupa Khope gave the welcome address; she said that we should be indebted to the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for us. She stressed on considering the institution as our nation which has to be nurtured.
The Vice Principal, Mrs Rekha Keni Guralla was also present on the occasion. The vote of thanks was proposed by teacher In charge of the Students’ Council, Mrs. Supriya Angle, while teacher, Mrs. Amelia Baretto was the compere. Earlier, teachers of the institution presented a patriotic song on the occassion.
