Dempo Sports Club scored eight past Churchill Brothers FC and is within sight of finishing on top of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Sub Junior League (Goa zone) and qualifying for the final round after their match at Dempo SC Academy ground in Ella, Old Goa on Monday.

Churchill Brothers who have recorded one win from six matches looked all in disarray from start to end with Dempo SC opening the scoring in the 5th minute and finding the nets six other times in the first session itself and the last in the second half.

Jairaj Patekar was the first to signal Dempo’s intent with a goal in the 7th minute and thereafter it was a story of which player would score when with the Churchill Brothers boys just unable to find their rhythm.

Churchill Brothers FC recorded their only win against Sporting Clube de Goa in their last match.

Swavel Furtado, Dalwin Coelho and Macnelle Dias scored a brace for the winners whilst Reniel Dias completed the tally with the only goal in the 58th minute of the second half.

Swavel scored first for Dempo when he finished the good ground work of Reniel who cut past the Churchill defenders to lay him a pass that he had to tap in. Dalwin and Macnelle took it upon themselves to score alternatively as Dalwin scored in the 18th minute and Macnelle followed it with a goal in the 21st minute only for Dalwin to strike again when the game was 31 minutes old and Macnelled completing his brace two minutes before the lemon break.

The winner led by seven goals during the lemon break.

Reniel Dmello who had been threatening to score all evening scored in the 58th minute after he ran past the Churchill keeper to tap into an open goal.
