The Dempo Group, a founding father along with other Goa-based industrial houses of the Goa Management Association (GMA), recently forged closer bonds with the organisation (www.gmagoa.com) with which it has been associated for over four decades now.
The Association’s website has this to say about itself: Since its inception in 1975, Goa Management Association has consistently evolved to represent the interests of management practitioners, professionals and students in Goa and to promote and develop education and research in management. GMA is affiliated to the All India Management Association (AIMA), New Delhi and is one of the active and vibrant local management associations (LMAs) of AIMA.
GMA provides a platform for management professionals and students to constantly update themselves and their knowledge with contemporary managerial practices and events shaping the profession across the globe. Varied activities are undertaken, all round the year, for this purpose, to create a platform for debate on management, such as open training programmes, monthly lectures under the Knowledge Lecture Series, panel discussions, lecture series programmes in collaboration with management institutes for management students, conventions, and other activities. GMA also recognises outstanding management professionals in Goa with its Annual Awards.
Coming to the awards, the prestigious Manager of the Year annual award is being proudly sponsored in most particulars by DEMPO from the time of its inception in the year 1996. The award carries a gold-plated medallion, a citation and a trophy. Commencing from Year 2016 onwards, the trophy, too, shall be sponsored by the Dempo Group in addition to the medallion hitherto, making us proudly responsible and responsibly proud in the matter of the entire annual honour.
The GMA Manager of the year 2015 was Mr. Siddhesh Kurade, Delivery Unit Head, Persistent Systems Ltd.
Commencing again from this year, the Dempo involvement in the Body got deeper. The Executive Committee of the Association which was elected for the two-year term 2016-18 counts among its members former GMA chairman Dr. Krishna Gopal Rajanala, General Manager (HR), representing group entity Dempo Industries Pvt Ltd’s Navhind Papers & Publications.
All going to indicate that relationships built by Dempo with its network of professional institutions and bodies such as the Goa Management Association are ones truly to be treasured, profoundly to be prized!
