DCT’s Vasantrao Dempo HSS of Arts Science and Commerce celebrated Founder’s Day on 3rd March 2018. This was the 102nd Birth anniversary of its Founder, Late Shri Vasantrao Dempo, homage was paid to him on the occasion. The Chief Guest was Shri. Yatish Dempo trustee of Dempo Charities trust. Mrs. Akshaya Dempo graced the occasion, Shri. Antonio Fernandes MLA of Santa Cruz, Mr. Mariano Araujo, Sarpanch of Santa Cruz Panchayat, Fr. Alexandre Pereira, Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church Santa Cruz, Administrator. Shri Rajesh Bhatikar and the Principal, Mrs. Rupa Khope were also present.
On this occasion, the second edition of “Vasant Times” the school bulletin edited by Mrs. Amelia Barreto was released at the hands of the chief guest. A senior teacher, Mrs. Sumedha Kamat Desai was honoured for receiving the National award from Govt. of India from Humanity and Resource Development and Education. Scholarships were awarded to local students pursing higher studies in different streams. In his address Shri. Yatin Dempo highlighted the founder’s vision which is giving to the nation what we have received. Shri. Antonio Fernandes stressed on value of education and being valuable citizens of society while Fr. Alexandre Pereira appreciated the kind gesture of the Dempo trust towards society and developing love for learning and working life better for everyone around us. Mr. Mariano Araujo stressed on the importance of giving rather than receiving.
Earlier the Principal welcomed the gathering while Mrs. Antima Satarkar and Mrs. Darshita Chari presented the Invocation song. Three staff members Mrs. Usha Kiran Bhobe, senior Mathematics Teacher, Mrs. Lina Pai, Clerk and Mr. Sadanand Babrekar, Administrative staff were felicitated on their retirement. The Vice Principal Mrs. Rekha Keni Gurrala proposed the vote of thanks, while Ms. Vanaja Mudaliar compered the function.
