Corporate Social Responsibility: The House of Dempo

The Group is well known for its social contributions and philanthropic activities. The group initiated the establishment of Goa Mineral Foundation, which carries out various environment management programmes in and around the mining belt to improve the living conditions of the populace. Other social activities are channeled through Dempo Charities Trust and Dempo Sports Club.

The trust organises Vasudeva V Dempo memorial lecture by eminent personalities. Mr. KV Kamath, Mr. PV Narasimha Rao and Dr. JJ Irani have rendered lectures under this scheme.

Dempo Charities Trust

Dempo Charities Trust has been established to contribute to the well being of society as well as to channelise resources for needy programmes. The Trust also runs two well known colleges in Panaji – Dhempe college of Arts & Science, Miramar and Dempo College of Commerce apart from Higher Secondary schools. The Dempo schools and colleges aim at providing excellent educational facilities and help mould the minds of young Indians who are the future of the country.

Dempo Charities Trust also awards scholarship for conducting research into various aspects of Goa’s rich culture, history and social milieu. A number of books have been published as a result of these research efforts

Federation Cup, Rovers Cup, Scissors Cup, National Football League Championship, Durand Cup, etc. are some of the major cups that the team has won in recent years.

Dempo Sports Club

The football team of Dempo Sports Club is one of the top professional teams of India and has won numerous prestigious tournaments. It is nationally acclaimed and has kept the Spirit of Sportsmanship alive. The activities of Dempo Sports Club are, however, not restricted to its Senior team which takes part in the premier football tournaments of the country. As part of its tradition to foster and bring up talent in the sport, the Dempo Sports Club also runs Youth Development Programmes for boys at various age groups - under 15, under 17 and under 19. These boys are trained in the basics of playing football by able and competent coaches.

Mineral Foundation of Goa
The Group has initiated and joined hands with other major mining companies in the State of Goa to set up the Mineral Foundation. This foundation takes up specific projects and programs for the Protection of Environment as well as social projects specifically designed for upliftment of the society in the mining belt.
