Students of STD XI B (Arts Section) organized a Plant Exhibition in the school campus on 21st Feb, 2018. The Students brought different medicinal and air-purifying plants. The main aim of this project was to understand the importance of plants in our lives and to inculcate the habit of growing and nurturing plants.

The Students prepared charts and explained the importance of plants. The various medicinal plants that were displayed:-

  1. Andiographis Paniculata (Kirayte – King of Bitters)
  2. Annona Muricata (Patpanas – Soursops)
  3. Azadirachta indica (Kodunim – Margosa tree)
  4. Boerhavia diffusa (Punarnava – Spreading hogweed)
  5. Bryophyllum pinnatum (Panfuti – Miracle leaf)
  6. Juticia adhotoda (Adulso – Malabar nut)
  7. Piper Nigrum (Miri – Black Pepper)
  8. Mentha (Mint)
  9. Cynodon Dactylon (Dhurva Grass)
  10. Aloe Barbadensis Miller (Aloe Vera)
  11. Ocimum Tenuiflorum (Tulsi)
  12. Murraya Koenigi (Curry leaves)
  13. Ocimum Basilicum (Basil)
  14. Cymbopogon Citratus (Lemon Grass)
  15. Aegle Marmelos (Bael – Golden Apple)

The various Air purifying plants that were displayed are:-

  1. Spider Plant (Chlorophytum Comosun)
  2. Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum)
  3. Boston Fern (Nephrolepis Exaltata Bostoniensis)
  4. Snake Plant (Sansevieria Trifasciata)
  5. Areca Palm (Chrysali docarpus lutescens)
  6. English Ivy (Hedera Helix)
  7. Anthurium (Anthurium Andraeanum)
  8. Rubber Plant (Ficus Robusta)
  9. Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis Miller)
  10. Money plant – Devil’s Ivy (Epipremnum Aureum)

The exhibition was witnessed by all the students and teachers of our Higher Secondary School conducted by the guidance of their Economics Teacher “Mrs. Maria Edna Da Costa.
