Dempo Sports Club rallied to hold FC Goa 1-1 in the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Sub Junior League matches held simultaneously at Panchayat ground, Nagoa and SAG ground, Utorda on Wednesday.

The result propelled Dempo SC to the top of the Goa zone table with Salgaocar a close second with both teams having the same number of points but the former occupy the top spot with a better goal difference of +13. FC Goa are third with seven points and Churchill Brothers are yet to win a point.

Dempo Sports Club who share an unbeaten run with Salgaocar FC – both teams having won three games and drawn two – received a jolt from FC Goa when the first session appeared to be ending in a goalless draw when Sohil Shaikh scored two minutes into the extra time of the first session.

Down by a goal, the second session saw the Dempo lads pressing into the second half for the equaliser but the stubborn FC Goa defence gave them no room to damage its citadel until the 55th minute when Swavel Furtado scored the equaliser.

Both teams went all out for the equaliser in the last ten minutes of the match but a goal proved elusive as the defence of both teams stood their ground.
