Anju Turambekar, AFC A license coach, has been appointed Technical Director (TD) of Dempo SC, Youth Development Program. The appointment was confirmed by the club on Saturday.

Twenty nine year old Anju hails from Bekanal, a farming village in Kolhapur and has been part of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) grass root development program for the last six years. Anju moved from her village to Mumbai where she played for a local club and ultimately ended leading Mumbai for the nationals.

Anju travelled to the Netherlands in 2010 for the International Coaching Course and there has been no turning back thereafter. Anju pioneered the Mission XI Million program introduced prior to the FIFA U-17 World Cup hosted by India in 2017.

I am excited to come to Goa, to face this huge challenge. It was during my interaction with Mr. Dempo that I realised his vision for football is not just about having a club that wins titles or grass roots development that produces players but his desire to help develop an ecosystem around football in India. This is a challenge, I decided to be part of,” said Anju.

The philosophy of Dempo is not just to win but to contribute to the greater vision of football in India and I am happy that I am being offered the opportunity to fill in the gaps. For me, it is going to be an exciting new challenge,” stated Anju who has been in the forefront of grass development with AIFF.

Anju is to arrive Goa from New Delhi today and formally take over on Monday.
