The Dempo Group has once again continued its commitment to sports and development in India. Demonstrating that the Dempo commitment to sports is not restricted to football and cricket through the celebrated Dempo Sports Club, Dempo restarted its Goodwill Ambassadors Programme with the enrolment of two young sportspersons into the programme.

The Dempo Group’s endeavours in CSR are an intrinsic part of its framework and are channelled through two primary pillars: the Dempo Charities Trust and the Vasantrao Dempo Education & Research Foundation. Through these vehicles, the group extends its CSR efforts across domains, including higher education, cultural enrichment, environmental conservation, health & sanitation, and sporting excellence.

Highlighting their passion for sports, the Dempo Group inaugurated its Goodwill Ambassador programme in 2007-08. It stemmed from the strong belief of Chairman Shrinivas Dempo that encouraging talented Indian youngsters leads to global achievement. This initiative identifies and nurtures promising local sportspersons in their pursuit towards excellence in their sports discipline at national, international and Olympic levels. Recognising talents beyond mainstream sports like football and cricket, the programme encapsulates thirteen distinct disciplines such as chess, table tennis, tennis, athletics, etc.

Labelled the ‘Dempo Goodwill Ambassadors’, these individuals are not merely local talents but are globally recognised achievers in their respective sports. Some illustrious names from the past include Grand Master Anurag Mhamal, IM Bhakti Kulkarni, and National tennis champion Natasha Palha.

After a brief interlude, the programme recommenced in the fiscal year 23-24. We are supporting two promising athletes:

13-year-old badminton prodigy, Aarush Sandesh Pawaskar, has showcased his mettle in various national tournaments. His training at Selenite Sports Academy in Bangalore, coupled with numerous state and national accolades, positions him as a promising contender in forthcoming championships. Aarush is the Goodwill Ambassador of the Group company, Goa Carbon Limited.

11-year-old Dhruv Prashant Kamat, with an evident passion for table tennis. After proving his prowess in Goa’s State Championship under the age of 11 and several national tournaments, his prospects are looking extremely bright. Dhruv is the Goodwill Ambassador for Devashri Nirman LLP.

The Dempo Group extends its heartiest wishes to both athletes, anticipating great laurels and global achievements in the coming years.
