A programme to familiarise Dempo Group Employees on aspects of the soon-to-be-effective Goods & Services Tax (GST) was held at the Dempo House Conference Hall on the morning of Friday, the 5th May, 2017.

Intended for a cross-section of Dempo Group employees, the programme was conducted by senior officials of the Commissionerate of Customs and Central Excise, Panaji, and specially facilitated by Dempo executive, Mr. Nitin P. P. Lawande, General Manager (Materials), Dempo Shipbuilding Pvt. Ltd. Heading the exercise was Deputy Commissioner of Central Excise Manga Raju, with the familiarisation conducted by Assistant Commissioner of Central Excise, Himani Dhamija, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Supporting the duo were Assistant Commissioner of Central Excise Sathish Kumar and Inspector of Central Excise Amit Kumar.

The importance of the game-changing tax structure to come into force soon is so high in the eyes of the Central Government that the department of Central Excise, one of the administrators of the GST has been charged with the initiative to sensitise corporate stakeholders on the legislation.

The session which drew positive feedback from employee participants saw the presence of personnel from departments such as Finance & Accounts, Purchase, Sales & Marketing, Insurance, and Billing & Estimation.
