Five journalists from The Navhind Times have won Goa Union of Journalists awards for excellence in journalism. The winners are Diana Fernandes, Wahab Khan, Upendra Naik, Bhiva Parab and Hemant Parab.
Diana Fernandes has been selected for the award for Excellence in Investigative Journalism, instituted in honour of Lambert Mascarenhas, for her report ‘Brexit fallout: Goans seek greener pastures in EU’. Wahb Khan has won the GUJ award for Excellence in Environmental Journalism for his report ‘Quarter of Goa’s land highly vulnerable to soil erosion’.
Bhiva Parab has been named winner of the award for Excellence in Art and Culture Journalism for 2024, while Upendra Naik has won the award for Excellence in Video Journalism for two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024. He also received the award for Excellence in Environmental Journalism in 2024.
Photographer Hemant Parab has won the GUJ award for Excellence in Photojournalism. The winners were selected from over 200 entries received for 2023, 2024 and 2025. The GUJ journalism awards presentation ceremony will be held in June.
